My Winter Capsule Wardrobe – The Starting Basics to My First Capsule
I didn’t consider starting a capsule wardrobe until recently. Fully committing to a specific set of clothes made me nervous. My idea was originally to get rid of some of the clothes I don’t wear which was then a self revelation that I was not finding content with the clothes I already have. So now I’ve done more reflecting, figured out my personal style, and picked out my winter capsule wardrobe!
Choosing What to Put in My Capsule Wardrobe
I’m deciding to start on a seasonal basis and create my first capsule wardrobe with only the clothes I already own. I decided I did not want to spend any money to create this first one. So, I wen’t through my closet and started by picking out the clothes I’m keeping for my winter capsule. First I went through tops, choosing the ones I wear often and match the personal style I defined. I then did this with pants, skirts, sweaters, dresses, shoes, and jackets. Leaving the things I don’t wear as items to sell and get rid of. Now the goal is to stick with the things I chose and only wear these until March, which is when I’ll switch to my spring capsule.
Capsule tip: Pick a separate part of your closet to move your choices to. Leave the ones that you don’t select where they are. This way, you stay organized and don’t get overwhelmed or frustrated by the process. This took me a couple days to narrow down so don’t feel the need to do it all in one go.
My Capsule Wardrobe
After much planning and thinking, I’m really excited to share with you my winter capsule wardrobe! For now, I’m going to include a list of the items, and will be showing more photos of this capsule in future posts.
